On August 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., Mr. Chulaphong Thawisri, Director-General of the Department of Industrial Works, assigned officers of the Industrial Waste Management Division, along with Mr. Thira Kaewpimol, the Provincial Industry Officer of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, to attend a meeting to follow up on resolving the impacts of illegal dumping of industrial waste in Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Apisara Ket-in, Phachi District Chief, along with officers from the Pollution Control Department, officers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, officers from the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Suppression Division (NRECD), officers from local administrative organizations, and representatives of affected people, led by Ms. Daowan Chanthahasdee, Senior Officer and Community Advisor of the Ecological Restoration Foundation, at the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Phachi District Office, Suwannason Road, Phachi Subdistrict, Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

In this meeting, the meeting discussed and followed up on the progress of solving the problem and the method of treating and disposing of waste according to academic principles, which is more than 4,000 tons of industrial waste or waste in 5 old warehouses without factory operation licenses, including waste from illegally dumping industrial waste in various areas in Phachi District and neighboring areas, including 6 clay pits in Khok Muang Subdistrict, private areas in Phailom Subdistrict, local areas in Phra Kaew Subdistrict, abandoned factories in Bang Pa-in District, and the factory area of Suntech Chemical and Logistics Co., Ltd. The meeting urged relevant agencies to expedite the implementation of the assigned duties and powers in full.

The Department of Industrial Works (DIW) will coordinate with waste treatment operators to urgently survey and assess the types and quantities of waste in areas where illegal dumping occurs in various areas in order to prepare for the treatment and disposal process according to academic principles, as well as coordinate with experts to provide advice and guidance to affected villagers.
